Assistant in Nursing (AIN) position available at reproductive & sexual health clinics in Newington, Fairfield and Penrith. Part time shifts between 16 hours - 32 hours per wee are available. State of the art facilities with comprehensive clinical supports and opportunities to build your clinical skills in procedural assisting, monitoring vital signs, reprocessing of medical devices (sterilising) and supporting clients.  

Develop and expand your AIN skills in reproductive and sexual health with opportunities to provide procedural assistance, monitor vital signs, reprocess medical devices (sterilising) and support clients through their healthcare journey.  The position is responsible for the provision of high quality clinical care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Medical Officer.

Position Overview

The AIN plays an important role in supporting the operation of Family Planning Australia (FPA) clinics. This is a multi-faceted role which is responsible for providing clinical support to the organisation including assisting medical officers and registered nurses with the care of clients. 

  • Part Time - various shifts available - minimum 2 days per week
  • Flexibility across our Metropolitan Clinics (Newington, Fairfield and Penrith)
  • Base Full Time Salary: $54,764 - $57,431 (salary dependant on experience)

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the principles of infection control
  • Demonstrated ability to support clients and provide assistance during clinical procedures
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Sound computer skills, including MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated ability to provide reception and administrative support including billing, cash handling and reconciliation
  • Proven strong interpersonal, negotiation, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated high level customer service skills, including conflict resolution
  • High level ability to manage competing demands and adapt effectively to change
  • Ability to perform tasks under the direction of the clinician with minimal supervision, as well as within a broader team
  • Must have Australian working rights

Desirable criteria

  • Current NSW driver’s license
  • Experience in a clinical/primary health care setting including use of, or willingness to develop competency in, the use of autoclaves and medical appointment booking systems
  • Experience working with priority populations including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people, people with disability, LGBTQ people and/or culturally and linguistically diverse people

  • A Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check are required prior to commencement
  • Immunisation/vaccination requirements apply
