Job Description

Position Overview

The Nurse Educator plays a key role within the International Programme, ensuring high quality clinical standards are maintained and implemented in international projects. This is achieved through capacity building partner organisations to provide high quality sexual and reproductive health services including clinical services, resource development and professional education in the Pacific region. The role includes the planning, development and delivery of resources, courses, workshops and training, including the implementation of clinical quality improvement systems and processes. This role also includes project coordination, contributions to monitoring and reporting and support relationship management with key internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires clinical sexual and reproductive health knowledge, skills and experience, sound clinical judgment, excellent communication and negotiation skills and an ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. The International Nurse Educator will maintain a clinical load in order to retain clinical expertise and will work across metropolitan Sydney clinical sites. This role sits within the International Programme team.

The position will be required to travel to Pacific countries as part of project activities, including after hours and weekend travel. Working in countries in the Pacific and in low resource settings requires innovation, flexibility, respect, adaptability, and resilience.

  • fixed term full time and fixed term part time positions (until June 2028)
  • $118,557 (Base Full Time Salary)

Desired Skills and Experience

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Primary nursing degree with current AHPRA registration as a registered nurse
  • Post graduate qualification in reproductive and sexual health nursing (Reproductive and Sexual Health Clinical Accreditation program or equivalent)
  • Clinical practice experience in reproductive and sexual health
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience working effectively on multiple projects with competing demands and demonstrated flexibility in adapting effectively to change
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts across a variety of audiences 
  • High level digital literacy, including proficiency in using collaboration tools and ability to locate and evaluate relevant online information
  • Well developed interpersonal, negotiating and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a cross-cultural environment with awareness and sensitivity
  • Ability to travel in the Pacific region
  • Must have Australian working rights

Desirable

  • Experience developing and/or delivering online clinical training packages
  • Other relevant postgraduate qualifications
  • Experience working in the Pacific region
  • Education qualifications and/or awareness of adult learning principles, teaching methodologies, curriculum development and evaluation processes
  • Knowledge of Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles
