About the role
Anticipated start date: 08 June 2026
Fixed term part time up to 15 months (maternity leave relief)
We are seeking the right candidate to join Family Planning Australia in the Acting Director of Nursing/Deputy of Clinical Services position. This role is a fixed term part time opportunity for up to 15 months while the current incumbent is on maternity leave. This is a unique executive-level role that combines traditional nursing leadership, strategic planning, and operational and commercial responsibilities. As the Acting Director of Nursing/Deputy of Clinical Services, you will provide strategic direction for policy and clinical practice across all FPA services, lead the Day Surgery Unit, and service as Deputy to the Director of Clinical Services.

Desired Skills and Experience
We are looking for a registered nurse with strong leadership capabilities, at least 5 years of post-graduate nursing experience and 1 year of administration experience in a position equivalent to, or more senior than, nursing unit manager who can balance clinical excellence with budget constraints, drive quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to reimagining clinical operations in line with our five-year strategic plan. his position offers valuable executive development experience and the opportunity to shape nursing standards across our organisation.
Key aspects and responsibilities of the role over 15 months include:
Executive team membership with dual reporting lines to the CEO and Director of Clinical Services
Financial and operational accountability for the Day Surgery Unit
Leading nursing workforce development and clinical governance systems
